JPS resolving New Harbour power woes

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) notes with concern the letter to the editor published on October 18, 2018, titled 'Cruel, cruel JPS', from a resident of New Harbour Village, Phase III, in St Catherine.

As indicated in the letter, regrettably, the company has been experiencing technical difficulties in retrieving readings from the meter. Because of this difficulty, she has been receiving estimated bills. This situation is deeply regretted, and the customer has been, and will be, receiving compensation in keeping with the Guaranteed Standards.

Importantly, though, JPS has been working to resolve this situation by upgrading the communication network serving this community. In fact, the upgrading works commenced in September. The upgrade will significantly improve the customer's experience by the end of November. We are also in dialogue with the customer to resolve outstanding issues.
