Teach boys to avoid crime
THE EDITOR, Sir:
We need to educate the boys and tell them to remain in school and depend not on negative influences, but men of substance as their role models.
Father figures need to do their part in the upbringing of these young men: they must be integral in the lives of their boys.
Encourage boys to develop positive self-esteem - to see themselves as nation-builders and productive entities.
Place more male-friendly environments both in school and the wider society to grasp the interest of the young men.
Mobilise the young men to be more morally correct along with good influences, and emulate the principles of the Bible.
Be respectful to the elderly, women and children.
Have fun and allow them to dream big and love your fellowmen in all their daily sojourns.
Love themselves and they will love others; as a consequence, it has a domino effect. Be patriotic to the cause of your countryman and define your ultimate role before you are out of school, and what course of studies you wish to pursue before you become a man.
Try to self-actualising one's self and developing, hence create an independent state of mind which you will use to realise you projected aims and objectives and any other target.
If we can correct this crime problem, we will have saved a generation which has blamed the previous ones for their misdeeds and negative impact and influence on the psyche of the young impressionable minds.
