In praise of Councillor Christopher Townsend
THE EDITOR, Sir
As a resident for over 55 years in the constituency of West Central St Andrew, the last 20 of which have been represented in Parliament by Prime Minister Andrew Holness, I would like to use this medium to highlight a few things about the constituency.
Firstly, it was a masterstroke of political savvy when Prime Minister Holness selected Mr Christopher Townsend to run as councillor for the Tower Hill division of the constituency.
Tower Hill, like the Seivright Gardens division, represents key areas of West Central St Andrew.
The prime minster, with the country's welfare of paramount importance, needed individuals to step up for the area.
With Councillor Delroy Williams, who represents the Seivright Gardens section wearing the hats of mayor and a member of the Senate, it behooved Councillor Townsend not only to marshall his Tower Hill area but the wider boundary as well.
The affable Councillor Townsend is very approachable and has the knack to quell any dissent before it escalates.
A team player, Councillor Townsend, with his open door policy, is a very important cog in the wheel of political representation for West Central St Andrew.
Good choice, PM Holness.
