Let SOEs stay until you have another plan
THE EDITOR, Sir:
As a resident of St James, it was the best Christmas and New Year I have had in a long time. No gunshots.
As a returning resident, I don't expect this state of emergency to go on forever, however, I would be happy if it were to stay in place until whatever new plan is put in place because it saves lots of lives.
Where I live, there were killings every day. I could never enjoy fireworks, and I would have to stay locked in for fear of gunshots. Both sides need to sit and come up with some plan to let us law-abiding citizens feel safer instead of planning to sell out and run from our own country, Jamaica, land we love. Stop playing politics with our lives. Anything to save lives is worth fighting for. If there are grey areas or room for improvement, sit down and try to iron it out as leaders who want the best for the law-abiding citizens who are neither PNP nor JLP, but Jamaicans. Let us put away our differences and build a better country. Of course, we, the citizens, have our part to play.
