Humiliated nurse

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I AM a registered nurse at a public hospital. On May 14, I went to the Tax Administration Jamaica office in Mandeville to do a transaction after I was granted to few minutes break from my job.

Upon reaching the tax office, I explained to the man at the door that I had to go back to work, but he insisted that I join the long line. Of course, I couldn’t since I got only a few minutes from work. While I was standing at the door, a police officer was allowed in immediately. Two other persons came in (seemingly businessmen) and they were allowed in also, surprisingly.

After about 15 minutes, this man had the audacity to rudely ask if I was sure if I’m going back to work because “it look like you a idlers”.

I felt very humiliated.

Is the police officer and other ‘acquaintances’ are more essential than the registered nurse?

This is just another one of the reminders of how unfair nurses are treated in the society.
