We are all humans

THE EDITOR, Madam:

LET US be clear, the fact is that the majority of the over seven billion people on earth are not of European origin. They are not white. It is estimated that 12 per cent of the human race is white; the other 88 per cent is made up of other races. The African continent has 17 per cent of the world’s population. When Europeans started to travel around the world from the 15th century, they were in the minority, as they are today.

Setting out as Christians, they were engaging in the sins of colonisation, slavery and ethnic cleansing. Thus, they had to have a justification, which was to claim that the majority were inferior to the minority.

But, DNA is providing evidence that humans walked out of Africa to populate the earth, and is also confirming, if it ever needed confirmation, that we are all one race – human.

It is about time for this white supremacy fallacy to be jettisoned – all human lives matter. As Christians, human beings are created in the image of God, whatever their race or class.
