What are our priorities?

THE EDITOR, Madam:

Changing statues or reordering their location is the ‘in thing’. However, this demolition has already for some time now been easily effected in Jamaica. Road plates were brilliantly moved in the scrap metal trade. When the streets are renamed it will cause confusion as all are named ‘Don’.

Our people march every day laying out stalls very early in the morning and packing them back at dusk. The revolt is to put food on the table. They have long recognised that ‘no friend’ nor ‘neighbour’ will be ‘there for them’. When one keeps this perspective, the day-to-day battle to live, taking responsibility for yourself and dependants, you are winning. And that is what really matters.
