Being left-handed is not a problem

THE EDITOR, Madam:

My brother and I are left-handed, and we have no problem! A matter of fact, we are more versatile than “normal” persons.

First of all, over six to seven decades, we have learned to use both hands with almost the same efficiency as a right-handed person, yet I have observed that most right-handed people cannot use their left hand with any degree of efficiency. They write “crab toe”.

We can write with both hands, use any hand to operate the mouse. Actually I mostly use my right hand to operate the mouse and the remote; use knife and fork properly at the dinner table – no switching the knife from hand to hand. I hold my pen exactly as the right-handed person and write across the page normally with no problem.

But being left-handed can present a slight annoyance to right-handed persons, and I sometimes take pleasure in slightly irritating them. For instance, at the restaurant, I would switch over all glasses and tea cups.

Being left-handed can disclose your identity. We “tick the other way”, and since we are in the minority we are easily identified. I recall in a secret-ballot voting, many were able to identify me!

Last but not least, I recall that I was called upon many times to help relieve “crick-neck” as apparently, only left-handed persons could rectify such pain in the neck.
