Save our country from murderers

This should shock a nation. Jamaica is the fifth most murderous country in the world. In the year of Independence, there were 63 murders or 3.9 per 100,000. Fast-forward to 2021, there have been 1,301 murders or 46.5 per 100,000. In the United States the homicide rate is 11.5, in China 0.62 while in Canada, it is approximately 2.6.
Between 1962 and 2021, in excess of 50,000 Jamaicans have been murdered. Is this what independence is all about as we make a fuss about removing the Queen as head of state? At least before independence we were behaving as civilised people. Should we be calling for relinquishing independence as a solution to be civilised people?
Have we turned Independence into a corrupt, uncivilised criminal disgrace? Shouldn’t we be fighting to save Jamaica – Land We Love?
