Why should we change our laws?

Published:Tuesday | July 13, 2021 | 12:06 AM

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I am compelled to write this letter in response to the article ‘Anti-gay laws cost Caribbean millions’ in The Sunday Gleaner because Canada, the United States, and Caribbean countries are sovereign countries. So these countries decide the value that is most important to them, which is supreme in power, rank, or authority.

I would like to take the example of the United States – no foreigners ask them to change their laws because they do not suit them, so why are our laws in the Caribbean not respected by some foreigners?

So why do some of them (foreigners) want Caribbean countries to change their laws because they do not conform with how they would like them to be, and they can’t change the laws in the US to suit themselves?
