THE EDITOR, Madam:

I had the pleasure of visiting the new cruise ship pier at Port Royal. I would like to congratulate the team at the Port Authority for this development. It has been tastefully executed and it is clear that there was a lot of time, love and effort spent in planning the project.

The occasion was the visit of Statsraad Lehmkuhl sailing vessel to Jamaica. That event was flawlessly planned and executed. We registered at an outpost outside of the venue where our vaccination cards and IDs were checked. We were given coloured wristband that indicated which cohort we belonged to.

Kudos to the Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) team for a well planned and executed event.

It is my fervent hope that this cruise ship pier will be supported by local patrons as well as the cruise ship industry. It has the potential to be developed as a hub for shopping, restaurants, conferences, etc. The team at PAJ headed by Professor Gordon Shirley deserves many accolades for this great accomplishment.
