In light of the increase in COVID-19 cases, we asked our followers if they agree with the Government’s decision to reopen schools for face-to-face learning.

Corona naw stall. Why should learning stall any longer? - @WhyteSamora

It was inevitable. Anyone can get and transmit the virus. So that means we will have to live with it. Strictly adhering to protocols helps with mitigation. Make test kits available to schools. MOE must distribute clear guidelines to all schools for consistency. - @4ed600cff5da438

Look, COVID cases are like maskita over Portmore, dem a go always increase. What we need to do is be cautious and carry on. - @KANIEL_COLE

I agree. Open schools. Isolate, test, sanitise and resume as is safe. That’s what happen in the workplace. Apply the same to schools. Students need socialisation and they have been severely disadvantaged by online classes. - @AnnetteBalfour

If there is a further rise in the cases then it will be paused again but they are now in the testing mode to see whether it can work. If adults can’t follow COVID protocols, imagine the children but we can observe the impact in the upcoming weeks. - @CutieRitalia

Yes, can’t punish the children for adults irresponsible behaviour. Adults wants to stay home unvaxed and have parties. Education is the key. - @CleverickD

It depends on the rate at which the infection is spreading. If managed and stable, sure. If the rate is increasing exponentially and likely to place extra strain on the healthcare system, then it may help to move to online classes despite the widespread disadvantage. - @KeithCunningh18

Let us open back schools fully. School administration need to stop playing around and teach our children. - @JohnABullock

Mask up, get your shot.. f2f.. this virus not leaving us no time soon. - @messam_m

Yes! COVID a go anywhere any time soon? People need to move on from this COVID thing! School must open! - Rashane Davis

What I’m saying is that everybody is sick now the children who are in school now are playing with their one another so it’s kinda hard. - Lisa Allen

Yes I do. It should have been done long ago. - Devon Thompson

Yes give the parents what they want, even if it’s COVID.- Lion Null

Well, it’s good that they allow school to reopen. However, I think it should have reopened in November seeing that it was predicted that we would have a fourth wave after the Christmas season. If they had open school from November we would be better able to assess the situation and locate those students that haven’t been attending online classes and assist them in a better way. We have to look 10 to 20 years down the road at what will happen when we have more uneducated youths on the streets. - Kenroy Blackwood
