Atheistic banking policy
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I recently visited the National Commercial Bank (NCB) in Mandeville on behalf of a savings account holder, only to discover that the account was classified as dormant due to inactivity after one year, and so on.
Considering that the savings account had more than the opening minimum, the bank failed to credit the yearly interest payments.
Second, if we had not found it necessary to use this account at this time, the next step would have been to publish the account name in the newspaper in a notice where the Government of Jamaica becomes the chief beneficiary.
It should be a requirement of banks to put in place mechanisms to notify their customers before placing their account in dormancy.
One can therefore conclude that it is this dishonest, oppressive and exploitative nature of an atheistic banking policy that benefits the Government of Jamaica, and the failure of us as citizens to file class action suits against both parties, that allows the continued siphoning of funds to the Government’s consolidated account.
How can we support Jamaica becoming a republic when banking policies are not in the interest of its citizens?
