Prime Minister Andrew Holness says he is embarrassed to see the levels of garbage in public spaces. “It is of great concern to the government,” he told the House of Representatives.

“Is that all he can say after promising prosperity to all citizens?” – @Eugel Davis

“Waste disposal was one of the PM’s 10-point plan back in [the] 2016 general election campaign. The 10-point plan was meant to be addressed as [a] matter of priority. However, it’s taken six years to talk about ordering some trucks, and even if they were to materialise, it will be woefully inadequate to address the severe problems being faced Islandwide.” – @Kingsley Wright

“I wonder what would happen if we invest in putting some garbage drums around the heavy pedestrian/ traffic thoroughfares. I hardly see drums to dispose the garbage. If they believe they would be stolen they could bore holes in the bottom.” – @Rose Dunn Vaz

“It’s a national disgrace. The Government has failed in this aspect, while the country is waiting on the garbage compactors. Why not hire some open-back trucks to clear the stinking garbage all over the country? – @Morris Morgan

“It’s just not enough to be concerned, Mr Prime Minister. Your concern about garbage and crime and violence is woefully inadequate. Like one of your predecessors (and a popular song) famously said, “action, not a bag a mouth.” – @Janneth Mornan-Green

“He should be! Where are the long-promised garbage trucks? Lost in space?!” – @kuster_nicole

“I don’t know if the person dispatching garbage trucks is doing a good job. Because sometimes for weeks there is no garbage collection, and sometimes two trucks come on the same day.” – @roseallenharris

“Out of all the things to be embarrassed by, this is what he chooses. Not the murder rate, not the fact that places still don’t have good roads, electricity and water, but garbage.” – @shakerasphere

“[Is] he not embarrassed about the crime rate?” – @caribe_ann

“But according to your wife, this is only in PNP areas, so you should have nothing to be embarrassed about!” – @waliworx

“KMT. Promises have not been kept and the Government is not concerned, because it’s not at their gate. Also, what is he going to do about the insane people roaming in the streets?” – @marshadouglaswright
