THE EDITOR, Madam:

The Christmas season is a time when we all reflect on our past experiences and future endeavours. I am using this time to show my appreciation to all the persons who continuously assist persons with disabilities by making our lives bearable.

I wish to thank the journalists, vloggers and bloggers who continue to highlight the difficulties we face and advocate for changes in our physical and economic environment. Thank you to the members of parliament and counsellors spend time in our constituencies. I appreciate that fact that you make the effort to search for us and help us with care packages, scholarships, and social housing.

Thank you for making the communities accessible. I would like to thank the employers and managers who give us the opportunity to work; continue to have the confidence in us. Respects to you who provide us with economic opportunity to feed ourselves and our families. To the readers, editors and researchers who assist in our university assignments and administrative duties, thank you for making our academic endeavours easier.

Thank you to all the bus drivers, taxi drivers and other motorists who see us and stop, so that we are able to cross the road safely. Shout-out to the street and market vendors, thank you for assisting us with an extra pound here and a ‘brawta’ there. You understand the struggle that we face, your kindness helps us to know that our dollar can stretch a little further. For this Christmas season I acknowledge you. I appreciate you.

Continue to give us the strength and empowerment with your money, time, service, prayers, and love. Gramps Morgan, the famous singer says, “If you stand up for those down on their knees, and lend a voice to those who cannot speak, if you shine a little light and give sight, to the ones who’ve lost their way, there’s a place for people like you.” On behalf of the entire disabled community, I salute you. Thank you
