Make Ackeef Nugent an anti-crime advocate
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Despite all the killings and mayhem going on in Jamaica, I felt a sense of renewed hope listening to 13-year-old Ackeef Nugent. His story demonstrates that there is hope for Jamaica and young people in particular. I think this boy is far ahead of his chronological years. He is very talented and understands the street and innercity life very well.
He has a very good heart and his passion to serve others is evident. It is my humble opinion that the government should seriously consider him as an anti-crime advocate in the fight against crime and violence in Jamaica.
Most of our adult leaders in all spheres of national life lack credibility when they speak and quite frankly, I don’t think the majority of Jamaicans care to even listen when our adult leaders speak. Maybe the time has come for a child to lead us.
I know young Ackeef Nugent is still in school and should be focused on his academics at Excelsior High. However, he has demonstrated that he can manage his school work while doing extra activities outside of school. I think it would be a good thing for anti-crime advocacy in Jamaica to employ young Ackeef Nugent to join the fight against crime in Jamaica.
Therefore, as a law-abiding Jamaican, I am recommending him to the State for consideration. Keep up the great work you are doing, Ackeef. The word is always love!
