JCPD needs to be independent agency

THE EDITOR, Madam;

Regarding The Gleaner article ‘Justice fair hosted in Montego Bay for persons with disabilities’ – yes indeed, and a great start! However, a human right is not special justice. The Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities needs to be an independent agency to avoid a conflict of interest, and to ensure that persons with disabilities can address all government ministries in respect of their rights and protections.
