Editorial | Well done, Pope Francis

“It would be interesting to hear how the Jamaica Catholic Church officials react to this important development in the church. On the Editor’s point on the importance of leadership, the church leaders ought to say something, and if they do not volunteer then they should be prodded by the media.

In particular, they should answer what “blessing same-sex couples” will look like in the church. Should that happen during the Mass? As a matter of fact, one of the final activities in the Mass is the giving of a blessing to those celebrating birthday, anniversary and those travelling. I believe what the Pope is suggesting is that same-sex couples could and perhaps should use this opportunity to get a blessing. God bless that first same-sex couple who would dare do that in Jamaica but my, would the moment be poignant! Imagine Roman Catholic and Deacon and Theologian and Sociologist and Anthropologist having to go and bless the couple. Can someone check to see if he’s alright for this news that Holy Mother Church is doing something motherly might have taken him by surprise ...” – Anonymous

“to bless same-sex couples is not the same as endorsing gay marriage...”. Brethren, gay marriage/same-sex couples are both the same rubbish.. This decision by the Pope will unfortunately hasten the demise of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church has shown its members that it is not prepared to abide by any standards. They have chosen popularity over substance. If the Pope thinks the Church will find a new audience then he is wrong. The Church has suddenly lost half of their already dwindling members ... “– Holy Perv

“What do you mean by ‘God’? Priests, pastors, clergymen, and theologians pray that they will never be asked about the difficult subject that is raised. He is seen by some Christians as the jealous and vengeful “god” of the Old Testament and Moses, punishing his children for their “sins” in a way that is reminiscent of a strict Victorian parent! Those who disobey God’s commandments run the possibility of being damned by his wrath, burning in Satan’s eternal hell fire.” – @mv_mclennon

I guess all the boys that were allegedly molested by priests over the years are all grown up – @yaadman9
