Strict punishment for murderers
THE EDITOR, Madam:
i am a Jamaican residing in the United States and I am not willing to return to live in Jamaica where the legal system has been unable or unwilling to inflict the punishment that fits the crime.
The Gun Court was established to reduce crime, but so far it has very little effect. Other laws were created but have not worked either.
I believe that a life sentence without parole could work although I prefer hanging. Some doctors there have tended to many gunshot patients and understand the pain and suffering a family member or loved ones experience. The justice system needs to implement life without parole for murderers who cannot be redeemed and repeat offenders.
Guns are not made in Jamaica so it’s the government’s responsibility to detect how they enter the country. This has been happening for years and none of the previous administrations nor the present have demonstrated that they are willing to investigate this problem.
It’s now time for the people of Jamaica to demand better services.
