The Spanish Embassy in Jamaica, and the Cultural Centre of Spain in Miami, collaborated with The Spanish Jamaican Foundation (SJF), to present, Caminos Flamencos — A night of Flamenco Music and Dance.

The performers graced the second city — Montego Bay on Sunday, before moving to St Andrew at the Courtleigh Corporate Centre Auditorium on Monday.

Caminos Flamencos brought the audience art related to the flamenco — a Spanish artistic expression, fusing song, dance and music. The show's aim was to portray another view of flamenco and the piano in a format which includes singing, paintings, strings, percussion and dance.

The performances were presented by six talented artistes — Alberto Raya, pianist and originator of the show; two female dancers — Alba Fajardo and Irene Rueda; Manuel Casas on guitar; Alejandro Hitos, percussion and Jesús Valero, bass.

New Ambassador

The event, another means of sharing Spanish culture with Jamaicans, also served to welcome the recently appointed Spanish Ambassador to Jamaica — Josep María Bosch Bessa and his wife María Teresa González. 
The flamenco was declared an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) in 2010.
