Gorgeous Flowers Draxhall blossoms into full-service destination wedding brand
Flowers are the calling of Paul Romelus and his wife, Brittney. On a quest to spread cheer and happiness, last year, the couple decided to expand their floral and gifting offerings of their already established north coast brand.
With support from Brittney’s parents, who own the Kingston store, Gorgeous Flowers Draxhall in St Ann was launched. The initial push was to continue with creative gift baskets, floral arrangements, and cut-flower services, the couple said, but over time the vision changed. Gorgeous Flowers Draxhall expanded its offerings to include value added services.
“Over time, the vision has evolved into providing luxury wedding planning and coordination services, event planning and rental services,” said Romelus, the director and chief of operations.
Romelus says Gorgeous Flowers Draxhall focuses on transforming fresh blooms into breathtaking arrangements for all occasions – from intimate events to grand weddings. He informed that they have a seven-member team that includes his wife, who is the director and lead florist, an assistant florist, a wedding planner/event coordinator, plus ancillary staff comprising of cashier/sales associate, a cold room attendant and a driver. All of whom, he says, play a part in bringing “elegance, creativity, warmth and love to every design” for every event.
One event that stands out in Romelus’ mind is a styled shoot that they did with one of the directors and other alumni from The Wedding Planners Institute of Canada. “We had the chance to meet and learn from a lot of international and local vendors at Borghinvilla [a wedding venue in Discovery Bay, St Ann]. We did some floral work for that style shoot that got mentioned in Munaluchi Bridal Magazine.”
Romelus says Gorgeous Flowers Draxhall, which is located in Knutsford Business Centre, St Ann, is on a quest to deliver unique and customised designs. “We have discussions with our clients to determine exactly what their styles and needs are and accordingly plan the design concepts,” he said.
The overall objective, Romelus said, is to understand what the client is looking for and how best we can execute that from concept to the finished product. Here, he said, personalisation and diverse offerings are the key. “We import over 50 blooms of different flowers every week from North and South America and Europe,” he said.
Giving back to the community is also one of their focus areas. Gorgeous Flowers Draxhall offers services to local events, schools and churches in the area.
