NWA hopes to replace stolen P.J Patterson Highway sign by next week
The National Works Agency (NWA) says it hopes to replace by next week, the sign for the P.J. Patterson Highway which was stolen on Wednesday, five days after it was unveiled.
The ceremony to rename the Kingston to May Pen leg of Highway 2000 the PJ Patterson Highway was held last Friday.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at NWA, Stephen Shaw, says the agency is now evaluating quotations to replace the stolen sign which was originally bought for $120,000.
He says the NWA will be using moral suasion to get people not to tamper with the sign when it is replaced.
In delivering the keynote address at the renaming ceremony last week Friday, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller praised Patterson and lauded him for his contribution to national development.
Patterson was recognised for his vision in pursuing the highway 2000 project through public private partnership and for improving the social and economic welfare of Jamaicans.
