Superintendent of Police Steve Brown takes part in a candlelight vigil for two policemen who were shot and killed earlier this month.

The St Ann police, led by Superintendent Steve Brown, on Tuesday night held a candlelight vigil at the Ocho Rios police station for the two policemen who were shot and killed in the early morning of May 3.

Constable Keemo Walsh was reportedly shot to death, accidentally, by his colleague Constable Anduialy Smith, who later took his own life.

On Tuesday night, Assistant Superintendent Throyville Haughton, who is in charge of the Ocho Rios police, where Walsh was stationed, led mourners in song.

Scores of persons, including the slain policemen's colleagues, members of the Content Gardens Police Youth Club (PYC) to which Walsh was attached, and civilians, all turned out for the occasion.

Student nurse Sharicka Plunkett, who was among those present, said she was compelled to attend because of the impact Walsh had on the members of the club, including her.

"Walsh was not only the leader of Content Gardens PYC but he was like a brother to me, a friend, and he meant so much, I have to be here to represent," Plunkett said.
