The Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) has decided to push back the planned application fees hike to June 1.
In a release PICA said effective next Tuesday through to Friday, the agency will accept and process passport applications at the National Indoor Sports Centre starting at 6 a.m. daily.
Earlier this week PICA announced that a new fees structure would take effect on May 26.
PICA said that the fee for a regular adult passport application is to be increased from $4,500 to $6,500.
The fee for a minor will move from $2,700 to $4,000.
Hundreds have since turned out at the PICA offices hoping to avoid the new fees.
