More hazy days forecast
The Meteorological Service of Jamaica says the hazy conditions being experienced across the island are expected to continue.
Duty Forecaster at the Met Service, Lawrence Patrick Brown, says the haze, which affects air quality, is caused by Jamaica’s location, windy conditions, the burning of objects and vehicle transmissions.
According to Brown, the haze indicates dryness in the atmosphere.
Brown also says air quality tests would need to be conducted to determine if the contents are harmful to humans.
Meanwhile, President of the Medical Association of Jamaica (MAJ) Dr. Shane Alexis, says poor air quality can trigger respiratory problems.
Alexis also says more must be done to manage air quality to safeguard the health of the public.
