St Andrew man charged for gas cylinder killing
The Hunts Bay Police yesterday arrested and charged a man with conspiracy to murder and murder in relation to the death of a man who was hit with a propane cylinder.
Thirty-nine-year-old higgler Tafari Thompson of White Lane in St Andrew was charged with the murder of 27-year-old Cedric Maxwell.
The Olympic Gardens Police say about midday, on June 28, Maxwell was walking along the roadway with a relative, when they were pounced upon by Thompson and another man.
One of the attackers allegedly used a 25-pound gas cylinder to hit Maxwell and then fled.
Maxwell received a wound to the head, collapsed and was taken to hospital, where he died while being treated.
Thompson is scheduled to appear before the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s court on July 14.
The police say the other man is still on the run.
