Alleged corrupt cop shot in sting operation
An alleged corrupt cop who engaged undercover detectives in a struggle while being apprehended has been shot and injured in Willowdene, St Catherine.
It's reported that about 6 p.m yesterday, the sting operation was set up to catch the policeman collecting money from a man whose car he had seized.
According to reports, after the policeman was caught accepting the money, detectives from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency approached him and identified themselves.
The policeman then attempted to escape.
He was pursued and a tussle reportedly ensued during which he was shot.
The policeman managed to escape but later turned up at hospital with a gunshot wound where he was treated and released into the custody of the police.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is now probing the shooting.
