IGT brings Christmas cheer

IGT Jamaica’s Shana Forbes brings Christmas cheer to a ward of Mustard Seed Communities’ Jerusalem. The company visited Jerusalem as part of their Christmas treat for the institution. IGT opened its After School Advantage Centre at Jerusalem in September of this year.

International Game Technology (IGT) brought Christmas a little early to St Michael's Primary, Holy Trinity High, the Jamaica Christian Boys' Home, the Women's Centre and Mustard Seed Communities' Jerusalem.

Decked out with a Santa of their own and armed with treats, IGT visited these five After School Advantage Centres previously opened by the company in Jamaica. The most recent was Jerusalem, which was officially opened in September of this year. It marked the 11th such centre in Jamaica. The leading global provider of gaming technology, IGT's After School Advantage Programme invests up to US$15,000 to equip and maintain computer labs with partner institutions that lack the means to provide a technology-based education. The centres have indeed been making a world of difference to the students who use them daily.

Horace Moody, manager of the Jamaica Christian Boys' Home, noted: "It goes without saying that this computer lab has been a tremendous help to the wards of this home. With the use of these computers our wards have been able to prepare for the JIS Heritage competition and we gained first place in 2013 and top 10 positions in 2014," he said.

"The high-school students have used them to prepare their school-based assessments and assignments for school. Words cannot express our appreciation to IGT for these donations." Marking the season of giving with their visits, IGT Jamaica's General Manager, Debbie Green reminded students and beneficiaries of its partner institutions that IGT will continue its support.

"We are happy to be back at these centres and to see how much they are assisting the students and surrounding communities," she said. "This is just a small way for us to remind our partners that IGT will continue its support of, and relationship with the institutions. We're still very much a part of these institutions as this is a long-term relationship of which we are so proud. On behalf of the IGT family, we wish all our partners happy holidays, the very best for the new year and for the continued success of the After School Advantage Programme."

IGT, formerly GTECH, has been the lottery technology provider to Supreme Ventures Limited since it began selling draw games in 2001.
