Facelift for MoBay school

Some 35 members of the maintenance and housekeeping departments of Secrets Resorts and Spas to spent time brightening sections of the Catherine Hall Primary School building in Montego Bay on Ash Wednesday. Playing equipment, broken benches and chairs were also repaired.

Work began early and ended with many participants returning to their respective duties at the resort. The team included, staff members who were on their day-off but who opted join the volunteer effort. Their goodwill gesture was a pleasant surprise for the 1,300 children upon their return to school last Monday.

Secrets' general manager, Emilio Huhn, said the management plans to undertake a number of community projects in and around Montego Bay this year. He emphasised, however, that a greater level of emphasis would be given to education.

"Contributing towards children's educational development in any form is the most rewarding contribution that any entity can make. That's a lifetime investment," Huhn affirmed.

"We are most grateful. It was really needed; it will go a far way in enhancing the teaching-learning environment. This is the type of partnership that we are looking for from corporate Montego Bay/Jamaica. As a school, we could not have done this on our own," said school principal Dudley Jennings.
