More that 300 Polling Station Security Assistants (one- day police), were sworn in for Election Day duties in the parish of St Andrew, at the Police Officers' Club, Hope Road, this morning.
The exercise which was supervised by Lorraine Clunie, Justice of the Peace for St Andrew, ran smoothly after initial hiccups as several members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force were also in attendance to assist the JPs from the St Andrew roll.
The one-day police were given instructions which included mode of dress, time of arrival and how to conduct themselves, along with clearly labelled and numbered white vests and wooden batons that they signed for and would have to return.
