For Roger, 'life's a piece of cake
Roger Alleyne at 18 is very clear of where he wants to be in another five years. He is a great fan of Italian-American celebrity chef Buddy Valastro, star of the US TV series Cake Boss which features Buddy's successful family business - Carlo's Bakery.
If Roger has his way, he, too, will be a famous cake maker.
He is well on his way to realising his dream, acing his classes at the St Patrick's Foundation, which runs a HEART-certified programme in cake baking and other skills.
The St Patrick's Foundation is one of the beneficiaries of the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank's Adopt A Cause and corporate social responsibility programmes.
Roger's mom taught him the rudiments of cake making and he has earned a lot of practice as the go-to guy for family celebrations but it is at St Patrick's that he is getting advanced training and certification to take him to the next level.
A graduate of the St Andrew Technical High School with CXC passes in building construction, mathematics and english, Roger has his sights set on further advancing his skills at a United States institution, then opening his own bakery.
Move over, Buddy, Roger Alleyne is on his way!
