With their hectic schedules and the responsibility of hundreds of staff members on their shoulders, women who head their own businesses or organisations, barely find time for family life.

As we look forward to showing our mothers how how special they are on Sunday, the Public Affairs team asked some of Jamaica's female corporate heads who are also mothers, what they plan to do or how they would like to enjoy their special day.

Gail Abrahams

CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce -Jamaica (AMCHAM)

" My special wish for Mother's Day is a good night's rest, breakfast in bed, and a spa day that includes sipping wine and then 'movie night' with my family. Of course, I would love presents but for me, a day of rest is good enough and my greatest reward is to see my family 'healthy, happy and hearty'.

Jean Lowrie-Chin

Managing director of PROComm

"This will be the first Mother's Day without my beloved mother, so I will spend it quietly at home with my family and Jamaica-based siblings. Family time is what I love the most."

Thalia Lyn

CEO of Island Grill and chairman of the NCB Foundation.

"I'll probably spend Mother's Day in my garden with my 'other children' but would really prefer to be with my two crazy sons, Michael and Craig (it's genetic!), their wives and my four grandchildren. They don't live in Jamaica, unfortunately, but soon come."

Marlene Street-Forrest

General manager of the Jamaica Stock Exchange

Mother's Day is a family affair. This year I plan to spend it with my daughter, mother and sisters who are all mothers. We will be taken by the men in our family to a Mother's Day brunch at one of our favourite spots in Kingston after which, in thanks to God, we will attend a gospel concert at the University of the West Indies Chapel.

In the night we plan to have a quiet time chatting and probably play some board games and dominoes."

Diana Stewart

Stewart's Automotive Group

"The family will all be in Montego Bay to celebrate the renewing of the vows and wedding ceremony of my niece Whitney to Tyler Fausnaught, they were married in a civil ceremony last year. So there will be lots of celebrating, laughter, wine and dancing the night away to bringing in Mother's Day. On the actual day we will all have Sunday brunch including Champagne , so it will be a true celebration."

Marcia Forbes:

Phase 3 Productions Executive Chairman & Media Consultant

"Usually that is left up to my son and husband but this year will be different as my husband and I are newly minted grandparents. Our son may focus this Mothers' Day on his wife since she's such a new mom. That would be understandable.

Leading up to the day, I along with 10 friends who are moms will be attending United Way of Jamaica's fund-raising premiere of the movie Mothers' Day. This way, together we'll all celebrate our bonds as mothers."
