UPDATE: Licensed firearm holder who killed cop in St Ann released
Head of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ealan Powell says the police have released the licensed firearm holder who turned himself in after killing a policeman last Sunday night.
The shooting happened in Ocho Rios, St Ann during a dispute that developed between both men at a party.
It's reported that the policeman who was shot in the chest and hip was pronounced dead at hospital.

ACP Powell says the licensed firearm holder gave his version of the shooting to the police and was released as the police have not yet established grounds to keep him in custody.
Powell says the police are still collecting statements from other persons and will refer the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions once the process is completed.

The policeman was identified as 30-year-old Shane Francis, who was attached to the St Ann's Bay Divisional Investigations Unit.
The name of the licensed firearm holder has not been released.
