UPDATE: St James Police seek motive for murder of mother and son
Paul Clarke, Gleaner Writer
The St James Police are yet to establish a motive for the early morning murder of a woman and her 12-year-old son at their home in Tucker, St James.
However, the police say they are investigating whether it is linked to a murder at a nearby bar two weeks ago and the subsequent torching of a house.
Around 3 o’clock this morning, 49-year-old Yvette McLean and 12-year-old Hopewell High School student Devontae Haughton were shot dead by gunmen who kicked in their door.
Other family members managed to escape without harm.
The incident has left the Tucker community in shock with scores of people turning up at the scene in disbelief.
The double murder brings to four the number of people killed in the Granville Police Division in the past 13 days and 70 in the parish of St James since the start of the year.
