JPS restoring power to customers after Maggotty Hydro Station fire

The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) says it has now restored power to sections St Elizabeth following an early morning fire that damaged a unit at its Maggotty Hydro Station power plant in the parish.
According to the JPS, an initial assessment indicates that the fire started at approximately 1:40.
It says the blaze was quickly contained with the assistance of a team from the Black River Fire Station.
JPS Corporate Communications Officer, Ruthlyn Johnson says the fire resulted in a temporary loss of electricity to approximately 22,000 customers.
