Results out! 81 per cent of GSAT students placed in schools of their choice

Eighty-one per cent of students who sat the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) were placed in a school of their choice.

This represents an increase of eight per cent over the previous year.

The results of the exam which were released today registered increases in four of the five subject areas.

The largest increases was in Language Arts which saw a four percentage points increase in the average score attained by students.

The average score in Mathematics increased by one percentage point while Social Studies and Science registered marginal increases of 0.4 and 0.5 percentage points respectively.

Communication task, however, saw a decline of 2.5 percentage points in the average score attained by students.

40,354 students sat the GSAT exam this year.
