CIBC doing its part

“The fact that you are reading, means that you are blessed with the gift of sight.” This is an observation often made by the Jamaica Society for the Blind as they seek assistance for the over 27,000 blind persons in Jamaica, and another 81,000 living with low vision. CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank recently provided a financial boost for the society in support of its programmes which include eye health, blindness prevention, and adjustment to blindness/rehabilitation. Nigel Holness (left), managing director, CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, presents the cheque to Donovan McLean, chair, board of directors, Jamaica Society for the Blind.
The Guidance Department at the Unity Primary and Infant School is now better equipped to log and maintain confidential records of its students, thanks to the donation of a computer by CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank. Here, Renee Whitehorne (right), marketing manager of the bank, presents the computer to Chanter Swaby (left), guidance counsellor, and Gerald Black, acting vice-principal. The school, located in Lawrence Tavern, rural St Andrew, has 450 students.
