UPDATE: Alpha schoolgirl remains in coma #AlphaStudentShooting
Kali McMorris, the principal of the Convent Of Mercy Academy (Alpha), says the school community remains hopeful the student who was shot and injured yesterday will make a full recovery, even as she remains in a coma this afternoon.
The schoolgirl was shot in the face while being transported to school yesterday and is now recovering in intensive care at hospital.
McMorris says the school has received support from the education ministry, past students and other parents whose children attend Alpha.
McMorris says the classmates of the injured schoolgirl have also received counselling.
Meanwhile, McMorris has confirmed that the schoolgirl has been placed in an induced coma, but says her condition is stable.
She says although today is the last day of school, students and teachers of Alpha will still be praying for the full recovery of the student who should be entering grade nine come September.
It has been alleged that the persons who shot the schoolgirl were policemen.
