T&T PM Rowley meets with parliamentary group
Prime Minister Keith Rowley and a delegation from Trinidad and Tobago this morning paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the House of Representatives Pearnel Charles and Senate President Tom Tavares Finson.
The Trinidadian head of government also met with Leader of Government Business in the House of Representatives Derrick Smith and Dr Morias Guy of the parliamentary Opposition who was deputizing for Leader of Opposition Business Phillip Paulwell.
In a Gleaner interview Charles said the Trinidadian Prime Minister told the parliamentary group that it was his desire to see Jamaica and Trinidad lead the way in the Caribbean, because if one country failed the other cannot win.
Charles said the Trinidadian leader indicated that he wants to bridge the gap that has been created by misunderstanding.
He noted that Rowley emphasised that both countries should strive towards cooperation.
