Inmate charged with unlawful wounding of hit-and-run driver
The inmate accused of stabbing the motorist who allegedly mowed down a police inspector last Friday has been charged with unlawful wounding.
Forty-year-old Noel Smith is to appear in court on August 31.
Smith and the motorist were reportedly involved in a fight at the Falmouth police lock-up where both men are being held.
Smith reportedly stabbed the alleged hit-and-run driver who had taken to the hospital for treatment.
In the meantime the police say the alleged hit-and-run driver is yet to be charged for the death of police inspector, Mark Gibbs.
Gibbs was reportedly conducting a spot check when he signalled to the driver of a burgundy motor car to stop.
