National Security Ministry confirms PICA boss demitting office Friday
The National Security Ministry has confirmed that Chief Executive Officer of the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA), Jennifer McDonald, will demit office on Friday, September 2.
The Ministry has not indicated the reason for the separation, only saying McDonald who has been the head of the agency since July 2007 was instrumental in leading the transformation of the Immigration, Citizenship and Passport Services Division to PICA.
This morning, president of the Jamaica Civil Service Association, O'Neil Grant said he was concerned about reports that McDonald's contract will not be renewed.

Grant said McDonald has been performing well as PICA head and if there was no basis to deny the renewal, it may greatly discourage qualified people from applying to work in the public sector.
He says an individual's outstanding performance should be considered when a contract is due for renewal.
Attempts to get a comment from McDonald were unsuccessful.
