The sound of gunshots echoed despite the presence of Prime Minister Andrew Holness, Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams, and a high-profile team of officials now in Montego Bay touring a number of communities under siege by gunmen.
Two people were shot in the Farm Heights area near Porto Bello. They are now being treated at the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
About 4:30p.m. men carrying high-powered weapons unleashed bullets on a shop where the victims were standing.
“One of my church members was shot in the foot. She is now getting an X-ray,” a pastor told The Gleaner from the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
