Seprod Gives $30 Million to CASE
Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Karl Samuda has applauded Seprod for its commitment to the redevelopment of the dairy industry with the signing of a five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) valued at $30m. In addition, the Seprod Foundation will be awarding a five-year tuition and boarding scholarship to a student.
Speaking at the signing, Samuda said milk production in the dairy industry has declined from a peak of over 30 million litres in the '90s to a current production of some 12 million litres. He added that the Government would do everything to ensure that the dairy industry is put back on a firm footing, even as he urged CASE to take a more practical approach to its dairy programme.
CEO of Seprod Richard Pandohie said the signing represented Seprod's commitment to national development, noting that the economic prosperity of many advanced countries was built on agriculture.
