Sagicor Foundation treats children
The Sagicor Foundation Adopt-a-School programme recently gave 700 children medical checks comprising hearing, vision, blood sugar levels, among others, free of cost.
"Often, there's no time to address health issues during regular doctor's visits, so we think that doing this for all the children in our Adopt-a-School programme is important," said Nadene Newsome, manager for Sagicor's corporate social responsibility and public relations.
Each child also received drawstring bags, books, pencils and lunch kits.
The Sagicor mobile wellness unit also visited other schools to conduct health checks and saw close to 2,000 high school students over the summer. Schools included Immaculate Conception High, St Andrew High, Pembroke Hall High, Jamaica College, Vauxhall High and Hailie Selassie High schools.
