Police seize three firearms in St. Andrew, St. Catherine and Clarendon
Officers assigned to the Linstead Police Station seized two firearms and four rounds of ammunition in St Catherine and Clarendon on Saturday.
The police seized a third firearm from a man in St Andrew.
The police reported that at about 7:25 p.m. on Saturday, they were on patrol and carried out a search of an abandoned container on a property in Ewarton, St Catherine. A Taurus 9mm pistol with a magazine containing four 9mm rounds was found. No one was taken into custody in relation to the seizure.
Later, at about 8:00 p.m., police were on patrol in May Pen, Clarendon, when a robbery was reported. They stopped and searched a 16-year-old boy and took a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver from him. He was said to be involved in the robbery that had been reported.
He was taken into custody; however, his identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
In Gordon Town, St Andrew, one man was taken into custody following the seizure of a Taurus pistol and four 9mm rounds of ammunition in Jackfruit Tree district, Gordon Town also on Saturday.
Reports from the Gordon Town police are that between 3:35 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., a team conducting operations in the area searched a premises occupied by the man and found the firearm and ammunition. Police took him into custody; however, his identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
