UPDATE: Investigation into fire at Jacques Road LPG refilling plant proving difficult
Firefighters are yet to determine of the cause of an explosion at an LPG refilling plant in St Andrew which killed one person and injured four others.
The victims, including three teenagers, were taken to hospital with third degree burns to their bodies.
One subsequently died.
Investigators believe the LPG refilling plant which is on Jacques Road, off Mountain View Avenue is being operated illegally.
However, Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emilio Ebanks, says the investigation into the incident is proving difficult as residents refuse to give information about the operations of the plant.
The lawmen say the gas refilling facility was set up near a house.
However, Ebanks says permits are not usually granted to individuals who want to set up LPG refilling plants in residential areas.
