Victorious Rae Town councillor-elect relieved after 'toughest' election ever
The councillor-elect for the Rae Town division in the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation Rosalie Hamilton is expressing satisfaction at been given the nod by the people to return to represent them.
Hamilton, who ran on a Jamaica Labour Party ticket, was booted from the KSAC in 2012 but is poised to return next Friday after grabbing 1,872 votes to defeat the People’s National Party’s Shawn McGregor by 21 votes this time around.
According to Hamilton, her plan now is to lobby for the development that the residents of Rae Town are demanding for that under-served section of the Central Kingston constituency.
She had served as the councillor for the Rae Town division for eight years until her defeat in 2012 by the PNP’s Ann Marie Morrison who did not seek re-election this time around.
The JLP councillor has survived two attacks by criminals who shot her multiple times in the incidents.
