How much mayors, their deputies and other councillors earn

Most of the 228 municipal councillors in Jamaica are being sworn in today.

Their tasks involve deepening democracy at the community level and addressing issues relating to street lighting and parochial roads.

They are also responsible for maintaining order in the towns.

For all that and more, how much will they be paid?

Most councillors will earn about $114,604 per month before tax.
