Seventh-Day Church refutes reports its charging govt $2 million to use facilities
The West Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Church will meet with representatives from the Health Ministry this week to settle on a monthly rental amount for the government to use its property to offer health services.
Several departments of the Cornwall Regional Hospital have been relocated to the church grounds since air-quality issues forced a shutdown of activities on the first three floors of the 400-bed hospital more than a month ago.
Since then, there have been reports that the government may have to pay up to $2 million a month in rental cost.
However, the President of the West Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Pastor Glen Samuels, has rejected that suggestion.
He also says the proposed rent will not be near the reported $2 million a month.
