The Florida-based non-profit Education Gateway Foundation has announced scholarships valued at $1.6 million to a number of students from schools in Clarendon.
This year, the Foundation will fund up to 54 scholarships of US$150 for existing students, with up to 20 additional students being eligible to join the scholars programme to receive US$250 each.
The organisation has also partnered with bookstores and local dressmakers and tailors to provide their services in a move the founder Marva Christie-Wilks said will keep the funds in the parish.
Education Gateway Foundation comprises eight Jamaicans living in the United States.
